I love that I am able to give my daughter breastmilk (although I do have to supplement a couple bottles, that’s just a whole different story), but I’m going to be 100% honest; I hate pumping. I have exclusively pumped for almost 9 months now. I tried breastfeeding for a few days but it was extremely frustrating. I was stressing out and so was Madelyn. Nipple shields just weren’t our thing, so I made the decision to try pumping instead. I started out by giving myself a goal of making it 3 months; if I could make it to the end of my maternity leave I would be happy. Maternity leave came and went and there I was, carrying around a special pumping bag to work. Every. Single. Day. Now that I am almost 9 months in I might as well finish out the year, but seriously I am SO over it! I know that I shouldn’t complain because there are tons of women who want to breastfeed but can’t, I’m just ready to not be practically topless during dinner anymore. Haha!
My husband and I have joked that the produce drawer in our fridge has become the pumping drawer. My beautifully labeled milk bags have taken the place of the vegetables and my special lactation cookies, brownies, and supplements have taken over the kitchen counters. That’s normal, right? Do you have a special place where you keep your pumped bags of milk? Am I the only one who finds pumping annoying? And side note, do any other mom’s out there have a baby who likes to unplug their tubing while they are pumping? Because yeah, that’s Madelyn’s new thing now. 🤦🏻♀️
